My Fall 2024 Fashion Favorites

Fall has always been my favorite season for clothes. It’s the time when I get most excited about fashion, from the silhouette of trench coats to the sleekness of a black leather boot, and the dark hues that usually define the season. This year, I’m inspired by a lot of different things, but I’d say my style and favorites still lean towards sleek, tailored, and a mix of goth with classic elements. Here are some things inspiring me for fall 2024.

Cheetah Print

From Top: Little Lies Dream On Leopard Slip Dress, Tony Bianco Vampire Mule, Leopard Hair Bow, Ganni Leopard Printed Elasticated Maxi Skirt, Brandon Blackwood Kuei Bag, J. Crew  Cashmere Shrunken Cardigan

First off, cheetah print will always be in style. It’s timeless, just reinvented every season. This fall, I’m particularly inspired by cheetah in cardigan and sweater form. I'll be honest, last month, I went down a fashion rabbit hole, thanks to Gwen Stefani’s “Cool” music video. I even tracked down the designer (Dolce & Gabbana), though I won’t be supporting them due to their problematic beliefs. Still, a problematic queen loves a problematic designer. Gwen was also rocking an Alexander McQueen plaid skirt that I vibe with. This season, I’m fully embracing cheetah, and it’s a neutral print you can incorporate year-round, making it great for cost per wear.

Effortlessly Chic Mary Jane’s

From Left: Christian Louboutin Miss Jane Pump, Carel Camden Mary Jane Pumps, Repetto Red Fabienne Mary Jane Heels, Loeffler Randall Ginger Mary Jane Flat, Ballerette Green Patent Leather Ballet Flats, Charlotte Stone Raleigh Flats

I love a Mary Jane, especially a heeled one. They’re timeless and versatile, easily transitioning from casual to formal depending on the styling. Plus, as far as heels go, they’re one of the most practical and stable for actually walking around (catch me clomping around the office). I’m partial to almond or slightly pointed versions, as square toes can feel stumpy on my frame. But, if I’m being honest, I’ve found myself warming up to square-toed Mary Janes recently.

Lesbians in Power Suits

From Left: Aurate Diamond Tennis Choker Necklace, Mango Straight-fit Suit Blazer, Veronica Beard Dash Bag, Byredo Tobacco Mandin Parfum, Marina Rinaldi Triacetate Cady Tunic, Lafayette 148 Wool Double Face Thames Pant, Stuart Weitzman Vinnie Pump

You don’t have to be a lesbian for me to admire this trend, but it helps. Jenna Lyons’ press junket looks for RHONY are particularly on point—the tailoring is impeccable. I love a suit styled with sharp pointed pumps, classic and bold. While I don’t see myself rocking the pant version of a power suit anytime soon, there’s a real chance you’ll catch me strutting in a skirt suit set.

Giant Silk Scarves

From Left: Echo In The Cards Scarf, Alexander McQueen Tudor Rose Scarf, Jean Paul GaultierEyes & Lips Scarf, Kate Spade Women's Crossing Scarf

I’ve been in love with giant scarves since the mid-00s, thanks to Nylon magazine and the circle scarf craze. This fall, I’m inspired by Hermes silk scarves and other intricate prints. I’m pushing myself to find new ways to wear them, and I’ve been really into how Claudy Amoreira styles hers—she’s the queen of scarves.

Black, White, and Gold

From Left: Vintage Monet Gold Tassel Bracelet, Jibiri Slouch Maxi Dress, Baacal Sigourney Blouse, Monet Black Enamel Necklace, Mango Tweed Jacket, Miu Miu Leather Pumps

I’m sorry, but I have to bring up Gwen Stefani again. I separate the art from the artist, and her “Sweet Escape” and “Wind It Up” music videos have been a huge influence for me this season. I love the bold juxtaposition of black-and-white stripes with shiny gold. Gold has always felt loud and bold, and pairing it with black and white just works. It’s time to be bold, babes.

Pussy Bow Blouses

From Left: Baacal Silk Blouse, Mango Leopard Blouse, J.Crew Tie Neck Blouse

I’ve never met a pussy bow blouse I didn’t like. They’re polished, elevated, and sexy in the most powerful femme way imaginable. I love how they make me feel—powerful, luxurious, and sophisticated. I usually style them in a mod way or channel Princess Diana in an '80s-inspired look. For a more playful or casual vibe, I’d suggest going mod or wearing it unbuttoned with wide-leg dark denim. Right now, I’m on the hunt for the perfect high-neck pussy bow blouse.

Dark Cherry Everything

From Left: Ralph Lauren Ribbed Turtleneck, PAT McGRATH Labs Lipstick, Eleventh Hour Sunglasses, Banana Republic Wool Wrap Coat, House of Silk Demi Bra, House Of Aama Blouse, Coach Brooklyn Shoulder Bag

Dark cherry is everywhere on my social feeds, and I get it—I love it too. I’m especially into pairing it with cheetah, giving off serious ‘90s vibes. I’ve seen a lot of dark cherry in leather jackets and accessories like bags and shoes, but I think it would also look hot in sunglasses. And of course, it’s always the perfect nail color.

Big Chunky Jewelry

From Top: Ben-Amun Cross Necklace, KHOI Gomé Earing, Nixon Watch, Silver Lapis Lazuli Ring, Tiffany Bone Cuff, MONACO Acrylic Ring

I’ve always loved chunky jewelry—tacky and bold, in all the best ways. Lately, I’ve been drawn to more architectural pieces that lean sleek, like an acrylic Khoi bangle I have my eye on. I’m incorporating chunky jewelry into my rotation, mostly in the form of cocktail rings. Who doesn’t love a statement ring?

On My Radar // Coming Next Season

The Return of 00s Footwear (Lita and Unif)
With Jeffrey Campbell re-releasing the Lita and Unif bringing back the Hellraiser, the dirty hipster era is making a comeback. Hopefully, this will also spark a disco pant revival from a less problematic brand. I’m eager to see how these classics return to mainstream fashion—it’ll take some creativity to keep them fresh.

Vinyl, Vinyl, Vinyl
I’ve been obsessed with Courrèges ever since I saw Ginger in Casino, stepping off the plane in a full vinyl suit set. As suit sets become more popular, I think we’ll start seeing more brands playing with textures, patterns, and fabrics.

More Gemstones
Gemstones are always in, and I’m expanding my fine jewelry collection. I’m a sucker for emeralds and sapphires, but I recently fell in love with a rainbow gemstone bracelet at Bergdorf’s. Before making any big purchases, I’m doing my research since this type of fine jewelry is new to me. Marla Aaron’s pieces with gems are also on my radar.

What I’m Hoping For: A Return to Polished

Please, for the love of God, let’s be done with the “ugly core” fashion. I've had enough. Just my opinion, but do whatever you want—after all, I really don’t know much of anything.
