I’m way more of a homebody than I like to advertise, but I’m also a homebody with exceptional taste. This winter, I’m pulling out all of my favorite candles, making an alcohol-free martini, and cozying up on my couch to catch up on Kyle Richards’ lesbionic affairs. With that, I’ve got some recommendations for candles to light up your winter 2025. Stay warm, babes!

REPLICA Jazz Club by Maison Margiela
My first “big girl” candle. I bought it and instantly thought I had made it, so it maintains a special place in my heart. As I enter a new season of my career, it only feels right to bring her back into the rotation. It has notes of rum absolute, tobacco leaf, pink pepper, and vanilla, with a 40-hour burn time. It’s got lovely, strong projection—warm and sensual, but also the definition of luxe. Taurus babe approved.
Private Hours by Snif
I know my way around a hotel—I’ll take any excuse to go to a hotel bar or book a room for a weekend getaway. This candle, a collaboration with The Standard, High Line, is as chic as the hotel itself. It has notes of spiced rum, tobacco, cashmere woods, cannabis, and leather. Made of premium soy wax, it comes in a really lovely vessel that’s perfect for cleaning out and reusing to store Q-tips, makeup brushes, or fragrance samples. It’s a charming addition to your winter nights at home.
Dark Rum Candle by MALIN+GOETZ
I think I’ve found the perfect candle for a sensual night in, whether solo or with others. Notes of bergamot, plum, anise, milk, and amber keep things warm. The minimalist packaging has its place, and the 60-hour burn time makes it worth it. Spice up any night.
Amélie by Bijou
Bonjour, bonjour! This candle is a bit different from my usual recommendations. Inspired by an almond croissant, it’s perfect for a winter morning spent indoors daydreaming. It includes notes of toasted almond, vanilla crème, flaky pastry, and salted butter. It definitely fills a room—I love having it in my kitchen because it’s such a gourmand scent. Also, major cutie alert on the packaging!
Melograno Scented Candle by Santa Maria Novella
Pure luxury, and not just luxury—old-world luxury. If you want to feel like you’re in an ancient Catholic church, living as a classic goth, this is for you. It has notes of bergamot, bitter orange, fresh spices, pomegranate accord, rose, ylang-ylang, patchouli, and oakmoss. Very grounding, with a good mix of woods and spice. Meant to symbolize good fortune, it elevates any space, especially since the scent lingers beautifully.
Sage & Walnut by LAFCO
Another gourmand for you, and this one is really powerful. With notes of orange, star anise, peppermint, lavender, sandalwood, cedarwood, and guaiac wood, there’s a heavy woodsy presence balanced by the orange and star anise. It has a 90-hour burn time and is made of soy wax. I also love LAFCO’s beautiful glass packaging—it’s reusable and perfect for vases or small floral arrangements. A lovely addition to a winter afternoon playing records and collaging.
Joya Genre Candles, Horror by A24
A big day for insufferable film babes—there’s now a candle to encapsulate that vibe. While the collaboration has a couple of genres (noir, western, sci-fi), for winter, I recommend horror. Notes of mandarin, clove leaf, cypress, suede, and cinnamon bark will fill your room. It’s haunting—in a good way.
Fruity Vanilla & Dark Plum Candle by Found Notes
While this list has been heavy on woodsy, smoky, or boozy scents, sometimes you want something floral. This candle fits the bill, with notes of crisp apple, bright bergamot, dark plum, rose, amber, whipped vanilla, praline, and musk. It leans more fruity than vanilla, but in a renaissance-painting kind of way. Perfect for moments of solace or for months tapering into spring. It also comes in a cute glass vessel, and the large size boasts a 70-hour burn time.
Poltergeist Candle by Heretic Parfum
Of course, I wasn’t going to leave my goth babes out of the equation. This one brings us back to something more haunting. Made with pure soy wax, it has notes of juniper, pine, wormwood, frankincense, labdanum, and palo santo fruit. Prepare to be truly possessed—or perhaps you’re trying to possess someone? Either way, it’s deeply grounding and offers a very nice projection without being overpowering.
